Interscholastic Equestrian Team
Mount
Holyoke College is proud to host an Interscholastic Equestrian Association
(IEA) team. Our Zone 1, Region 10 IEA program began in 2002 and was formed and organized to
promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction
available to middle and secondary school students, grades 6th-12th. For more detailed information regarding the IEA progam, please view our "Commonly Asked Questions" page.
Built in
1987, the Mount Holyoke College Equestrian Center is considered to be one of
the finest facilities for educational and competitive riding available to
students anywhere. Its stable provides over 69 spacious, airy, rubber-matted
stalls, a large outdoor all-weather footing show arena, a permanent dressage
arena, two indoor arenas, all-weather turnout paddocks, hunt field and a
cross-country course through 120 acres of woods, fields, and streams.
The
College's Hunt seat riding team, coached by the legendary C.J. Law, is a regular visitor to the Intercollegiate Horse Show
Association (IHSA) National Championships. Since 2000, the Lyons have taken
home a pair of National titles (2000, 2006) and two Reserve Championships
(2005, 2007). They have placed in the top ten several times. MHC also hosts club dressage and western riding teams. For more information on our collegiate teams click here.
